Money Saving Challenge - weeks 24 - 26 in review

I can't believe it's been so long since I've chronicled my attempts to save money!  For a while there, I was really good about jotting down my efforts on a daily basis and somehow I just got out of the habit.  I'm sure there are a few things I've forgotten over the past few weeks, but here are the things that come to mind:
  • As a special treat, we took the family to see a movie (Madagascar 3 -- it was very cute!).  I used a free movie ticket I earned from a Kellogg's promotion, plus the tickets we bought were cheaper since we went to a matinee.
  • I received a rebate check from a previous no beer purchase rebate for fresh fruit.
  • I planted tomato plants that were given to me (free) and lettuce seeds (cheap).
  • I cut roses and tiger lillies from my yard to enjoy, instead of buying flowers.
  • I matched sales and coupons at Tops and Wegmans.
  • We've been enjoying free fruit from the strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries picked from our yard and a relative's yard.
  • In order to limit my air conditioning costs, I've been keeping the curtains and blinds closed as well as opening the windows to catch the cooler morning and evening breezes.
  • I used a free Redbox code to enjoy a movie at home.
  • I cashed in Swag Bucks for a $5 Amazon gift card, to be used to offset Christmas gift expenses later this year.
  • I combined errands on outings in order to save on gas.
  • Now that school is out, we've been utilizing the public library more for books and free kids' activities.
  • I received a free cereal coupon in the mail from a giveaway at Thrifty Ways and Ideas (thanks, Maria!).
  • I received a free Target cosmetic bag in the mail, packed with nice samples and Target coupons.
  • I paid a couple of bills online to save on stamps.
  • I received a mailer from Tops containing store coupons.
  • I've been running the dishwasher with half of a dishwashing tablet.
  • I cashed out my SavingStar balance.
I have a feeling I'm forgetting some things, but there are still quite a few things I was able to do to help us save money.  If you have been tightening your budget, I'd love for you to leave a comment with the things you're doing to help stretch your dollars!

Local Tops coupon mailer info!

If you received the Mt. Read Tops grand re-opening mailer like I did last weekend, I have some exciting news.

Since I needed milk, I stopped at the Ridgemont Wegmans while I was out running errands (I'll be posting a few freebies and cheapies shortly!) and noticed they had posted a sign that they will accept the Tops coupons from this mailer.  I know at one time in the past they accepted the Dollar Doubler coupons in the Tops ad, but they stopped doing that a while ago.  Maybe this is a sign they will begin accepting those again?  A girl can dream, right? :-)

I can't confirm that they will accept the coupons at the Mt. Read Wegmans, but I would assume they would, since it's so much closer to Tops.  Have any readers noticed signs at the Mt. Read Wegmans?  Leave a comment below if you have!

Get free gift cards with Swagbucks!

I've done one search already on Swagbucks today. Have you? Every Friday is Mega Swag Bucks Day, where the chances of being rewarded large denominations of Swag Bucks is increased. What are you waiting for? Go do your searches now!

Not familiar with Swagbucks? Here's the deal:

Swagbucks is a search engine (like Google or Yahoo). You are awarded points randomly (called Swag Bucks) when you search the Internet, answer surveys, watch videos, play games, etc. Once you sign up (it's free!), you can also refer friends and family and earn points from their referrals.

I normally earn my points through doing the web searches only (and really, who doesn't already do that? Why not get rewarded for what you're already doing?). I seem to get points after my third or fourth search and I try to do it once in the morning and again in the evening. When I earn points for a search, they are generally in the 7 - 10 point range. I've also done some surveys and earned a bunch of points very quickly. And every Friday is Mega Swag Bucks Day, where the odds of winning high-value Swag Bucks are increased.

Swag Bucks are redeemed in the Swagstore. While there are a lot of things to choose from, my favorite item hands down is the $5 Amazon gift card for 450 points. I know, that sounds like a lot of points, right? Trust me, if you commit to doing 2 searches per day, the points can add up quickly. I started using Swagbucks in June 2011 and by the end of the year I cashed in for $45 in Amazon gift cards which really helped with my Christmas shopping. I figure this year I'll be consistent enough about it that I will have quite a bit of free money to play with.

Interested? Sign up at Swagbucks (remember, it's free) and start earning free stuff!

York Photo: $1 customized grocery tote + 40 free prints

Need to get graduation and Father's Day pictures printed out?  Looking for a one-of-a-kind gift?  Here's a great deal for you...

Head over to York Photo and customize a grocery tote for just $1 plus $3.99 shipping, and if you are new to York you can also grab 40 free prints!

Make sure to use code YORKTOTEAD.  This offer expires July 30th.

I'm thinking one of these totes would make a cute gift bag.  Customize it and you have a cute tote the gift recipient can use over and over again for about the same price as a flimsy paper gift bag!

6/24 - 6/30 Tops deals: my final trip of the week

Yay!  It's Wednesday and I'm done shopping for the week (unless we run out of milk, which is a very likely scenario!).  Today was a small but good trip:
4 packages Sargento sliced cheese - $1.40 each
On sale 2/$5, used 4 $0.55 coupons (double to $1.10) printed from here

2 cans Bumble Bee tuna - $0.50 each
On sale 10/$10, used a $1 off 2 couopn printed from Recyclebank  for 100 points (if you're not already a member, I highly suggest signing up and completing activities to start earning points for things like coupons!)

5.87 lbs. bananas - better than FREE (and yes, I did just buy a ton of them on Monday, too, but my kids have already eaten about half of Monday's haul!)
On sale for $0.39/lb., I had no coupons specifically for these but I used 3 $1.25 Catalina coupons I earned last week to offset the entire cost of the bananas ($2.29) plus some of the cost of my other groceries

The retail cost of this transaction was $19.92 and I paid just $5.14 after discounts and coupons, for a savings of 74%.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this week's grocery shopping: I paid a total of $51.29 for $133.00 worth of groceries, which is a 61% savings.

Happy shopping!

I signed up with Inbox Dollars a couple of months ago.  While I haven't made it a habit to read my emails on regular basis, it's certainly easy and a nice way to build up a little fun money!

6/24 - 6/30 Tops deals

I shopped at Tops both yesterday and today, and since I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, I'll start with that transaction:

1 jar Mt. Olive pickles - $1.00
On sale 2/$4 (check the shelf prices, because not all varieties are this price!), used a $1 coupon from the 6/24 SmartSource coupon insert

2 jars Hellmann's mayo - $1.99 each
On sale for $2.99 each, used the $2 off 2 coupon from the 6/24 SmartSource coupon insert (there is also a $1 off 1 mayo with olive oil coupon in the June issue of All You magazine, and I have also gotten a $1 Catalina coupon for the olive oil variety in the recent past)

2 boxes Barilla pasta - $0.50 each
On sale 10/$10, used the $1 off 2 coupon from the 6/24 SmartSource coupon insert

1 package of Duracell batteries - $4.74
Priced at $4.99, used a $0.25 Tops Monopoly coupon

2 packages Tops batteries - $5.49 each
Not on sale and no coupons, but I needed batteries yesterday :-(
*Each of these earned a bonus Monopoly game piece

6.10 lbs. bananas - $0.38 (about $0.06/lb.)
On sale for $0.39/lb., used a $2 off produce coupon I received in the mail
Note: If you live near the newly remodeled Mt. Read location, hopefully you received a mailer over the weekend like I did.  It has $5 off $35 coupons for each of the next 4 weeks, along with $2 off select departments' products (this week's was produce).

1 Land O' Frost sub kit - $5.74, see note
Priced at $6.99, used a $1 coupon from the 6/24 Red Plum insert and a $0.25 Tops Monopoly coupon
Note: This is more than what I would normally pay for lunch meat, but the free rolls (see below) sweetened the deal, plus subs sounded really good to me (which must be why they say never to shop while you're hungry!)

1 6-pack sub rolls - FREE
Part of a store promo where you get the rolls for free when you buy the above Land O' Frost sub kit

4 packages Carefree liners - FREE
On sale 10/$10, used 4 $0.50 coupons (double to $1) printed from coupons.com but no longer available (sorry!) -- however, there is also a $0.50 coupon in the 5/6 SmartSource coupon insert

The retail cost of this transaction was $51.46 and I paid $24.00 after discounts and coupons (I also used a $5 off $35 purchase coupon from the mailer -- make sure to hand these over before your other coupons!) for a savings of 53%.  This wasn't a great trip for me, but seeing how I needed to buy a lot of batteries (man, those suckers are pricey!) I was still pretty pleased.

Now on to today's shopping trip....

1 roll Reynolds non-stick foil - $1.49
On sale for $2.99, used a $0.75 coupon (doubles to $1.50) printed from their website

1 bag Tops candy - $0.75
On sale 10/$10, used a $0.25 Monopoly coupon

2 boxes Kellogg's Nutri-Grain bars - $1.00 each
On sale 4/$8 (must buy quantities of 4, can mix and match with the Fiber Plus bars below), used a $1 off 2 peelie coupon plus a Dollar Doubler Monopoly coupon

2 boxes Kellogg's Fiber Plus bars - $1.00 each
On sale 4/$8 (must buy quantities of 4, part of the mix and match promo above), used a $1 off 2 coupon from the 6/17 Red Plum coupon insert plus a Dollar Doubler Monopoly coupon
*Each of theses earned a bonus Monopoly game piece.

4 Teddy Grahams Go-Packs - $0.25 each
On sale 10/$10, used 2 $1.50 off 2 coupons (I'm trying to remember where I printed these from and I can't be sure.  I think I might have gotten them from Kraft First Taste and they were awesome coupons -- they could be used on any 2 "wholesome kids' products" which consisted of Teddy Grahams or Honey Maid and had no size restriction on them)

1 loaf Tops white bread - $0.74
On sale for $0.99, used a $0.25 Tops Monopoly coupon

2 packages Hillshire Farms sausage - $1.75 each
On sale BOGO ($4.49) used a $1 off 2 coupon from the 6/17 Red Plum coupon insert (there was also a $0.55 coupon over at coupons.com last month, so if you printed it before and haven;t used it already this might be a good time!)

2 boxes Philly Gourmet turkey burgers - $2.99 each
On sale BOGO ($7.99), no product-specific coupon for these but I did use a $2 Catalina coupon I earned last week to bring the price of these down

1 Pierre Drive Thru cheeseburger - $0.57
On sale 3/$5, used a $0.55 coupon (doubles to $1.10) printed from their Facebook page

2 packages Sargento sliced cheese - $1.40 each
On sale 2/$5, used 2 $0.55 coupons (double to $1.10) printed from here

The retail cost of today's trip was $61.62 and I paid $22.15 after discounts and coupons, for a savings of 64%.  My gas points discount is up to $3.00/gallon now.

I have 1 more trip planned (in order to stay within the coupon policy and maximize my gas points) but I'm not sure if I will head over there tomorrow or later in the week.

6/17 - 6/23 Tops deals: trip #3

Today marked my third tip to Tops so I could stock up on some essentials for our family...

8 boxes Betty Crocker fruit snacks/fruit roll-ups - $0.42 each, see notes
On sale 4/$4 (must buy quantities of 4 to get this price), used 2 $0.60 off 2 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here and 2 $0.50 off 2 coupons (double to $1) from here, plus used a $0.25 Tops Monopoly coupon
Notes: If you haven't done it yet, make sure to activate the $0.50 off 2 eCoupon at SavingStar before you shop.  Also, be sure to look through your Monopoly game coupons periodically.  I had a Betty Crocker fruit roll-up coupon and a Yoplait coupon all this time and didn't realize it until I looked through my Monopoly coupons again this morning!

3 Renuzit Adjustables air fresheners - $0.67 each
On sale 10/$10, used the Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon from the 6/17 Red Plum coupon insert

2 boxes Tops pasta - $0.75 each, see notes
On sale 10/$10, used 1 $0.25 Tops Monopoly game coupons
Notes: These each earned a bonus Monopoly game piece.  I generally don't like to pay this much for a box of pasta, but I didn't have any of these tri-colored ones in my stockpile and I figured I might get some good coupons by getting extra game pieces (it worked -- I got a coupon for a free Redbox rental!)

1 bakery doughnut - FREE
Priced at $0.72, used a free product coupon from the Tops Monopoly game

1 bakery danish - FREE
Priced at $1.29, used a free product coupon from the Tops Monopoly game

1 carton (1/2 gallon) Silk Almond milk - $1.80
On sale 2/$6, used a $0.60 coupon (doubles to $1.20) from here (there is also a $1.25 off 2 coupon here and a $1 off 1 coupon here)

20 cartons Yoplait yogurt - $0.47 each, see notes
On sale 20/$12, used 2 $0.60 off 8 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here (there is also a $0.50 off 8 coupon here) and a $0.25 Tops Monopoly coupon
Notes: Buying 20 Yoplait yogurts earned me both $2.00 and $1.50 Catalina coupons. I'll be using these on other trips to help bring down my out-of-pocket costs, which is especially helpful for things without coupons (like fresh produce).  Also, make sure to activate the $0.40 off 6 eCoupon at SavingStar before shopping in order to lower your final net cost.

The retail cost of this transaction was $51.87 and I paid just $14.99 after discounts and coupons (including $3.25 in Catalina coupons from one of my previous trips), for a savings of 71%.  I have a gas discount of $2.60 per gallon now, plus another $3.25 in Catalina coupons to use on another transaction.  To be honest, I even surprised myself on this trip. :-)

And just a quick final note, I know that the amount of yogurt I've bought so far might seem excessive (like one of the extreme couponers on TV who clears a shelf just because she can), but I assure you it is getting eating at an alarming rate. Before I left for the store today, I had only 16 of 40 cartons left in the refrigerator! With school out now, my kids are eating it at breakfast, lunch, snack time, and for dessert, so I really need to up my stash.  And regarding the ton of fruit snacks, the last time I stocked up on them, my 12-year-old boy raided them for midnight snacks so they certainly didn't last nearly as long as I had imagined they would.  This time my fruit snack stockpile is getting put in a secret hiding spot. ;-)

I *think* tomorrow will be my last Tops trip of the week, so I will update that after I hit the grocery store.

6/17 - 6/23 Tops deals: trip #2

I made my second Tops trip of the week and came away with many of the same items from yesterday, plus a few different deal:
4 boxes Betty Crocker fruit snacks - $0.40 each, see note
On sale 4/$4 (must buy quantities of 4 to get this price), used 2 $0.60 off 2 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here (there is also a $0.50 off 2 coupon here)
Note: Before shopping, make sure to activate the $0.50 off 2 eCoupon at SavingStar. After the eCoupon amount gets refunded, the final cost will be $1.10 for all 4, or $0.28 each.

3 boxes (10-pack) Kool-Aid jammers - $1.50 each
On sale 5/$10, used a $0.75 off 3 coupon (doubles to $1.50) from the 5/6 SmartSource coupon insert

2 boxes Silver Palate Grain Berry crackers - $0.99 each, see note
On sale for $1.99 each, used 2 $0.50 coupons (double to $1) from boxes of Silver Palate products previously purchased
Note: Like the oatmeal I bought yesterday, the crackers have a bunch of Silver Palate coupons inside the box that can be matched up with sales the week. Or, you can wait on them because these coupons have no expiration date (rare!). Inside the box is also a mail-in-rebate offer for a free product coupon when you send in the purchase requirements.

2 seedless cucumbers - $1.35 each
On sale BOGO ($2.69), no coupons

2 pints grape tomatoes - $1.99 each
On sale BOGO ($3.99), no coupons specifically for these but I did use a $2 Catalina coupon from yesterday's shopping trip which helped pay for these

2 cartons (1/2 gallon) Silk Almond milk - $1.80 each
On sale 2/$6, used 2 $0.60 coupons (double to $1.20) from here (there is also a $1.25 off 2 coupon here and a $1 off 1 coupon here)

20 cartons Yoplait yogurt - $0.48 each, see notes
On sale 20/$12, used 2 $0.60 off 8 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here (there is also a $0.50 off 8 coupon here)
Notes: Buying 20 Yoplait yogurts earned me both $2.00 and $1.50 Catalina coupons. I'll be using these on other trips to help bring down my out-of-pocket costs, which is especially helpful for things without coupons (like fresh produce).  Make sure to activate the $0.40 off 6 eCoupon at SavingStar before shopping, which will make the net cost even less.

The retail cost of this transaction was $65.65 and I paid $26.44 after coupons and discounts, for a savings of approximately 60%.  Along with the $2 and $1.25 Catalina coupons earned today to use towards a future shopping trip, I still have the $1.25 Catalina from yesterday.  My gas discount is now at $2.50 per gallon.

There will be another shopping trip tomorrow along with another breakdown of what I bought and what I spent.

6/17 - 6/23 Tops deals: trip #1

I didn't get a chance to blog about yesterday's Tops trip at the time, so here it is now...
I will be doing a MAJOR yogurt and fruit snacks stock up this week, and I have planned at least 4 trips this week in order to abide my the store coupon policy.  Here is the breakdown of yesterday's trip:

4 boxes Betty Crocker fruit snacks - $0.40 each, see note
On sale 4/$4 (must buy quantities of 4 to get this price), used 2 $0.60 off 2 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here (there is also a $0.50 off 2 coupon here)
Note: Before shopping, I activated the $0.50 off 2 eCoupon at SavingStar.  After I get the eCoupon amount refunded to me, my final out-of-pocket cost will be $1.10 for all 4, or
$0.28 each!

3 boxes (10-pack) Kool-Aid jammers - $1.50 each
On sale 5/$10, used a $0.75 off 3 coupon (doubles to $1.50) from the 5/6 SmartSource coupon insert

2 boxes Silver Palate oatmeal - $0.99 each, see note
On sale for $1.99 each, used 2 $0.50 coupons (double to $1) from boxes of Silver Palate products previously purchased
Note: The oatmeal I bought has a bunch of Silver Palate coupons inside the box that can be matched up with sales the week.  Or, you can wait on them because these coupons have no expiration date (rare!).  Inside the box is also a mail-in-rebate offer for a free product coupon when you send in the purchase requirements.

2 cartons (1/2 gallon) Silk Almond milk - $1.80 each
On sale 2/$6, used 2 $0.60 coupons (double to $1.20) from here
Notes: There is also a $1.25 off 2 coupon here and a $1 off 1 coupon here.  If you are headed to Target, I believe I saw in their ad that Silk is $2.99 this week, so if you are using  one of these  non-doubling coupon you would get a slightly better deal there.

4 cartons YoCrunch yogurt - $0.28 each
On sale 10/$6, used a $0.65 off 4 coupons (doubles to $1.30) from here

20 cartons Yoplait yogurt - $0.48 each, see notes
On sale 20/$12, used 2 $0.60 off 8 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here (there is  also a $0.50 off 8 coupon here)
Notes: Buying 20 Yoplait yogurts earned me both $2.00 and $1.25 Catalina coupons.  I'll be using these on other trips to help bring down my out-of-pocket costs, which is especially helpful for things without coupons (like fresh produce).  I also activated a $0.40 off 6 eCoupon at SavingStar before shopping, which will make the net cost even less.

The retail cost of this trip was $53.69 and I paid $22.96 after discounts and coupons, for a savings of 57%.  My gas points discount is now at $2.40 per gallon .

I'm heading back out today to take advantage of the sales to stock up on things my family eats a lot of, as well as some other deals throughout the week.  I'll be back to update on today's trip later.

I started using Swagbucks in June 2011 and by the end of the year I cashed in for $45 in Amazon gift cards which really helped with my Christmas shopping. I figure this year I'll be consistent enough about it that I will have quite a bit of free money to play with.

High Value coupon for Lean Pockets & Hot Pockets

$0.95 off 2 boxes of LEAN POCKETS Sandwiches:
$0.95 off 2 boxes of LEAN POCKETS Sandwiches
I don't know about anyone else, but Hot Pockets are one of my favorite guilty pleasures.  So, seeing the above high-value coupon made my night!  I'm not sure how much these retail at Tops, but they are $1.99 at Wegmans, which will make them $1.04 each after the coupon doubles, when you buy 2.  These also tend to go on sale on a fairly regular basis, so if you can wait to match the coupon with a sale you're sure to get a good deal! Just click the image above to clip your copy of the coupon.

6/10 - 6/16 Tops deals: 5th (and final!) shopping trip of the week

Today's shopping trip was my last planned trip of the week.  It was a small grocery list, but big on savings:

3 envelopes Ortega taco seasoning - $0.22 eachPriced at $0.89 each, used a $1 off 3 coupon from the 4/15 SmartSource coupon insert and stacked with the $1 off 2 Tops coupon from their website

1 3-pack Ferrero Rocher candy - FREE
Priced at $1.69, used a free product coupon from the Tops Monopoly game

1 box Fiber One chewy bars - $1.25, see note
On sale 4/$10, used a $0.50 coupon (doubles to $1) printed from here (also available here) and stacked with a $0.25 Tops Monopoly game coupon
Note: Before shopping, I activated the $0.40 SavingStar eCoupon.  After the eCoupon is refunded back to me, I will have paid $0.85 for the box.

The retail cost of transaction #4 was $8.05 and after discounts and coupons I paid $1.92, for a savings of 76%.  My gas discount is at $2.20 per gallon.

Overall, this week was a great one for me.  The retail cost of my combined trips was $183.50 and I paid $50.64 after discounts and coupons, for a savings of over 74%.

Did you have a successful week of shopping?  I'd love to read about it in the comments below!

6/10 - 6/16 Tops deals - shopping trip #4

I originally thought today's Tops trip would be my final one of the week, but I found a couple more coupons and deals (after coming home from the store, of course!) I'd like to take advantage of.  So, it looks like I'll be heading back one more time.  In the meantime, here is the breakdown of today's purchases...

2 bottles Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce - $0.50 each
On sale 10/$10, used a $1 off 2 coupon from the 5/20 SmartSource coupon insert

2 boxes Hefty slider freezer bags - $0.90 eachOn sale 2/$4, used 2 $0.55 coupons (double to $1.10) printed from their Facebook page

2 pouches Betty Crocker cookie mix - $1.00 each
On sale 2/$4, used 2 $0.50 coupons (double to $1) no longer available to print at coupons.com (sorry!)
*Each of these earned a bonus Monopoly game piece.

3 envelopes Ortega taco seasoning - $0.22 each
Priced at $0.89 each, used a $1 off 3 coupon from the 4/15 SmartSource coupon insert and stacked with the $1 off 2 Tops coupon from their website

1 can Monster energy drink - FREE
On sale 3/$5, used a free product coupon from the Monopoly game
*This earned a bonus Monopoly game piece.
Note: Don't forget that you can always donate unwanted/unneeded products.  No one in my house drinks this, but since it was a freebie (plus I earned an extra game piece) I picked it up anyway and sent it in to work with my husband.  I'm sure someone there will be thrilled to be visited by the free drink fairy!

1 package Borden Singles Sensations cheese slices - $0.49, see note
On sale for $1.99, used a $0.75 coupon (doubles to $1.50) in the July issue of All You magazine (which came in today's mail -- great timing!)
Note: This was an unadvertised deal.  The ad featured other Borden slices on sale 2/$6, and I planned on using my coupon for those.  Since the coupon was good on any Borden cheese, I decided to check first to see if they carried any other cheaper products.  Lo and behold, I saw these and bought them since they were a great deal and my son loves this flavor.

Boneless skinless chicken breasts - $1.69/lb.
On sale (big packs) for $1.99/lb., I bought 2 packages equalling 10.06 lbs. for a price of $20.02 and used a $3 off $20 fresh meat purchase Catalina coupon I found in the parking lot last week. :-) That brought the price down to $17.02, or $1.69/lb.

The total retail cost of this grocery trip was $64.78 and I paid $23.35 after coupons and discounts, for a savings of  approximately 64%.  My gas discount is currently at $2.20 per gallon.

There will be one final, small trip most likely tomorrow.  Until then, happy shopping!

June Nature's Marketplace magazine

I forgot to mention last week that the June issue of Nature's Marketplace magazine is available at Wegmans.  To be totally honest, I think this issue has been the most disappointing to date in regards to the coupons available inside:
  • $1.00 off Olbas Lozenges (expires 7/31/12)
  • $2.00 off Weleda 100% Natural Facial Care (expires 9/30/12)
  • $1.00 off a 2 oz. tube or 4 oz. jar of Topricin (expires 9/30/12)
If you use these products, be sure to grab your free copy in the Nature's Marketplace department of your local Wegmans.

6/10 - 6/16 Tops deals: shopping trip #2

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I will be making several trips to Tops this week in order to maximize my gas points and abide by the store's coupon policy.  Today's shopping trip looked like this:

4 boxes Trix cereal - $0.50 each, see noteOn sale 4/$6 (must buy quantities of 4 in order to get this price, otherwise they are $2.50 each), used 4 $0.50 coupons (double to $1) printed from here (there are also the $0.60 coupons here that I used yesterday, making them $0.30 each after the coupon doubles)
Note: Register for the $0.50 Twix eCoupon at SavingStar in order to lower your final cost even more. If you're not already registered, you can sign up here.
1 box Hefty slider bags - 0.90
On sale 2/$4, used a $0.55 coupon (doubles to $1.10) printed from their Facebook page

2 cans Bumble Bee tuna - $0.50 each
On sale 10/$10, used a $1 off 2 coupon from Recyclebank for 80 points (you can sign up here if you're not already registered and start earning points for "green" activities, which you can then cash in for coupons and other rewards)

1 bakery muffin - FREE
Priced at $1.29, used a free product coupon from the Tops Monopoly game

8 cups Yoplait Greek yogurt - $0.40 each
On sale 10/$10, used 4 $0.60 off 2 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here

My retail cost for this shopping trip was $35.43 and I paid $8.26 after discounts and coupons, for a savings of almost 77%.  My gas discount is at $2.00 per gallon.

I will be making another trip tomorrow, so I will give another update with some additional match-ups then.  Happy shopping!

6/10 - 6/16 Tops deals: 1st trip of the week

In order to stay within Tops' coupon policy and to maximize my gas points earnings, I made my first of several planned trips this week.  Here is the breakdown of today's shopping:

4 boxes Trix cereal - $0.30 each, see note
On sale 4/$6 (must buy quantities of 4 in order to get this price, otherwise they are $2.50 each), used 4 $0.60 coupons (double to $1.20) printed from here (there are also $0.50 coupons here, making them $0.50 each after the coupon doubles)
Note: I paid $1.20 out-of-pocket for the 4 boxes, but registered for a $0.50 eCoupon at SavingStar before I shopped.  After the eCoupon gets refunded to me, I will have paid a total of $0.70 (or $0.18 per box).

1 box Kraft macaroni & cheese - $0.50
On sale 10/$10, used a $0.50 Tops Monopoly coupon
*This earned a bonus Monopoly ticket

4 boxes Better Oatmeal - $0.45 each
On sale 10/$10, used 2 $0.55 off 2 coupons (double to $1.10) printed from their Facebook page (these have been reset, so if you used this coupon in the past try printing it again!)

8 Tony's Crispy Crust pizzas - $0.50 each
On sale 10/$10, used 4 $0.50 off 2 coupons (double to $1) printed from here (I printed this last week, and I'm not seeing it as available now, so it may be out of prints -- but try zip 77477 if you don't see it)

The retail cost of this transaction was $34.83 and I paid just $7.50 after discounts and coupons, for a savings of over 78%.  I am also now at a gas discount of $1.90 per gallon.

I am planning on getting more Trix, oatmeal, and pizzas this week, as well as some other items.  Stay tuned for tomorrow's shopping trip!

One day when I took my son to the store, they were handing out samples of this.  He loved it, so I may have to pick some up for him with this coupon (depending on the price, of course!).
